Sweet thoughts of a BRIGHT pink future!

For the past five months, each time that I ask little Berkley what she wants to be when she grows up, she sweetly, positively, replies, "a pilot." "An airplane pilot?" I ask. "No, Mommy a helicopter pilot. A PINK helicopter." For months now, the answer remains the same. She has a fascination with helicopters, although we haven't read books about helicopters, watched them in movies or tv. She has only heard them flying overhead. We are traveling to Michigan this summer and she is insisting on getting their by helicopter......I've tried to explain that it would be kind of a long trip in a helicopter......but her request has remained the same.

A few days ago, while preparing to go on a walk I asked her to go into Major's room and get his blue and white stripped jacket with the orange airplane. "You mean the orange helicopter, Mommy?" "Uh,yeah." I replied, trying to think what was on the front of his cute little hooded sweatshirt. She brought it to me and sure enough, it was an orange helicopter.

Although she's only 2 1/2, Charlie and I have often talked about what we think she will be when she grows up. She is definitely VERY nurturing and empathetic. She pays VERY close attention to details and seems to know and understand the world around her in ways that many five years olds don't. When one of us is sick, she brings us one of her dolls...if Major is crying, she'll bring him a toy or get him his sippy cup. She's on the ball and acts quickly, sometimes before I've even thought it.

I know that she'll be a wonderful Mother, as she already seems to have a knack for mothering her little brother as well as taking care of her baby dolls. Currently, her PINK bunny rabbit is "sick" and has been covered up with a little PINK baby blanket in her little white baby doll cradle. She takes his temperate with a real thermometer, but after nearly a week...the report is: "she's feeling sick." So, a nurse maybe?

For now, it's fun to watch her develop grow. I want her to grow up knowing the skies the limit (oh, yikes....that could make the helicopter thing literal....:)) but allow her to dream big and use the talents that God has given in life.

Maybe she'll be a ballerina teacher wearing a pink leotard, a teacher using pink chalk, a nurse wearing a pink scrubs, or maybe a helicopter pilot with a pink helmet.

God knows her future. I do know that I am on the search for a PINK monkey backpack, with wheels for "preschool, Mommy after I turn three." Oh, along with the PINK lunch box. I have some time, but I may have to get creative....I'm not surprised about the PINK (at all), but I am about the monkey. I thought it would be a PINK helicopter.

Maybe she'll go down in the history books for the first girl to ever fly a pink helicopter. Watch out big white airplane, you may have a PINK helicopter in your future!!
